Leigh, Chandos, 1st Baron Leigh of Stoneleigh (1791 -1850)

Chandos Leigh was the son of James Henry Leigh of Adlestrop and Longborough and afterwards of Stoneleigh Abbey in Warwickshire, and Julia Judith Twistleton Wykeham Fiennes eldest daughter of the 13th Baron Saye and Sele. He was created Baron Leigh of Stoneleigh (of the new creation) 11 May 1839. He married, in 1819, Margaretta, eldest daughter of the Reverend William Shippen Willes, of Astrop House, Northamptonshire, and Margaret, daughter of John Williams of Panthowell in Carmarthenshire. Part of the library of William Henry Leigh, 2nd Baron Leigh was sold at auction by Puttick & Simpson 14 December 1886.
